About the Parish

St. Joseph Parish, part of Holy Family Parish, was founded in 1883 and is one of the oldest Catholic communities in New Brunswick, NJ. The parish was formed by the merging of three different communities and is known for its cultural diversity, including English, Spanish, and Polish-speaking parishioners.

Masses

Masses are held in various languages to meet the needs of all community members. Regular masses are conducted in English, Spanish, and Polish.

History

The parish was established by Bishop John O’Farrell in 1883, and its first church was designed by the renowned architect Patrick Charles Keely. Over the years, the parish has been home to many generations of Catholic immigrants, including Maronites from Lebanon and Syria.

Vision

The parish shares the vision of Pope Francis to be a home for all, a community in humble service to others and those around us. As a community "united in diversity," the parish celebrates unity as followers of Jesus Christ and the community of the Holy Spirit.
