Medical University of Gdańsk is the largest medical university in northern Poland, established on October 8, 1945. The university offers education in four faculties, attracting over 6000 students, including doctoral candidates and participants of postgraduate studies. GUMed combines a rich medical tradition dating back to the 16th century (including the activities of the Gdańsk Academic Gymnasium) with modern standards of teaching and research. The university conducts extensive educational, research, and clinical activities in collaboration with the University Clinical Center in Gdańsk. Among its achievements are innovative scientific and educational projects, as well as involvement in international student exchange programs (e.g., ERASMUS). GUMed trains future doctors, pharmacists, laboratory diagnosticians, and public health specialists, preparing them for work both in Poland and abroad. The university authorities emphasize its role as a center for the development of medicine in the region, as well as its importance for the local community through the activities of clinical hospitals. GUMed is also active in the field of popularizing science and collaborating with the business environment, as evidenced by numerous research projects and social initiatives.
