Event Description

In response to numerous inquiries regarding the elections to the authorities of the Polish Social and Cultural Centre in London (POSK), coming from the media and private individuals, the POSK Management Board would like to inform that the Centre is a social organization with a dual legal structure: it operates as a registered charity in the register of the Charity Commission for England and Wales and as a limited liability company without share capital, registered in Companies House. The activities of POSK are based on internal organizational documents, including the Statute of the Polish Social and Cultural Centre, adopted on May 18, 2019, and the Supplementary Regulations approved by the POSK Council on June 15, 2019. In accordance with these documents, the current POSK Management Board has called an Annual General Meeting on July 4, 2026. During the meeting, elections to the authorities of the Centre will be held, i.e., to the POSK Council and for the position of the Centre's Chairman. The only persons entitled to participate in the Annual General Meeting and vote are the members of POSK. Therefore, official information regarding candidates to the Council and for the position of the Centre's Chairman is directed exclusively to them. The POSK Council plays a key role in the organizational structure of the Centre, participating in making strategic decisions regarding its activities. The Chairman performs his duties within the scope of competencies specified by the Statute and resolutions of the Council, and in his activities he cooperates with Directors appointed from among the members of the Council. In the upcoming elections, 21 candidates have been nominated to the Council, from whom 17 people will be elected. Therefore, it is important that POSK members receive full and equal information about both candidates to the Council and candidates for the position of the Centre's Chairman. We would like to emphasize that the electoral process has an internal and statutory character, and its rules directly result from the applicable documents. Information regarding candidates is provided to Centre members in the prescribed terms and in the same document. No organization of a similar nature publicly announces candidates for its authorities, their programs, resumes, or publishes interviews with them.
