Event Description

On September 22, the Polish Museum of America had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Anna D. Jaroszyńska-Kirchmann for a presentation of her new book, Pierogi: An American Story of Polish Food. Through the story of one of Poland’s most recognizable foods, Prof. Jaroszyńska-Kirchmann explored the broader history of the Polish-American experience – migration, family and community traditions, adaptation, and the ways in which food can preserve memory across generations. We were also honored to welcome Consul Agnieszka Marczak, who addressed our guests during the evening. A special thank-you goes to Małgorzata Pieniążek of Pierogi Kitchen, who provided the delicious pierogi tasting and added a wonderful culinary dimension to a conversation about Polish food and heritage. The event was also broadcast live thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland (MKiDN), allowing our program to reach audiences beyond the Museum. Thank you to Prof. Jaroszyńska-Kirchmann and to everyone who joined us for this wonderful evening of history, conversation, and, of course, pierogi! And please stay tuned – if you weren’t able to join us, the full presentation will be available to watch this Friday.
