A practical overview of information, returns, complaints, and privacy mechanisms.

A practical overview of information, returns, complaints, and privacy mechanisms.

Status checked: November 2, 2026. We are not a law firm. The material is for informational and educational purposes and does not constitute individual legal advice. Before implementing solutions, check current regulations and consult a specialist regarding your specific situation.

Before Entering into a Contract

Check if the customer can easily determine the seller's details, the characteristics of the goods or services, the total price and delivery costs, payment terms, delivery time, and procedures arising from the Consumer Rights Act. The information and ordering process must correspond to the actual process of the store; a mere file with regulations will not fix a confusing ordering page.

Returns and Complaints

Withdrawal from a distance contract and a complaint regarding non-compliance of goods with the contract are different rights. The standard withdrawal period is 14 days, but the start of the period and exceptions depend on the type of contract. Ensure correct information and practical service. We separately explain the proposed online withdrawal function.

Personal Data and Cookies

The privacy policy should describe actual processes: ordering, contact, analytics, and marketing, if applicable. The basis for data processing and the rules for using information on the user's device are not the same question. Check the operation of scripts, the timing of their activation, required consents, and the ability to change choices. Do not assume that every file requires the same treatment.

How to Navigate Your Own Store

Place a test order as a customer without an account. Check the information before payment, the content of the confirmation, ease of contact, and the process for submitting complaints. Test the mobile version and keyboard, then compare the operation with legal documents and platform settings.

What to Check at the Order Button

Before confirming the order, the customer should understand that they are placing an order that involves a payment obligation. Check the legally required labeling of the button or equivalent function and the information visible immediately before confirmation. Changes in the page design should be assessed together with what the customer sees at that step.

Collaboration with Platforms and Suppliers

The shopping platform, payment operator, shipping provider, and marketing tool can play different roles. Record who provides information about processing, who has access to data, and how order errors are handled. Not every relationship requires the same data processing agreement; it depends on the actual roles and activities.

In case of a dispute, keep the version of the offer, regulations, and confirmation used at the time of the contract. It is worth repeating the review after changing the platform, delivery method, or payment process, not just after changing the regulations.

Action List

  1. Identify the seller and contact channels.
  2. Verify information, price, delivery, and ordering process.
  3. Compare regulations with the practice of withdrawals and complaints.
  4. Review scripts, suppliers, privacy, and data security.
