Remembering Fr. Stanisław Alojzy Iciek: A Special Family Visit to the PMA
The Polish Museum of America hosted a special visit from Fr. Stanisław Alojzy Iciek's niece, Martha Marie Iciek Steffens, and her family, who viewed the collection of articles donated by Fr. Iciek, including his WWI chaplain's uniform, boots, and correspondence.
Event Description
On Sunday, 27 September, the PMA was proud to host Martha Marie Iciek Steffens, niece to Fr. Stanisław Alojzy Iciek, chaplain to the Polish Army in World War I. The family members, accompanying Mrs. Steffens wished to see the articles that had been donated to the museum from Fr. Iciek’s collection. They viewed his WWI chaplain’s uniform and boots and then looked through his very extensive correspondence, discovering some truly fascinating documents, including a letter signed by Bl. Fulton Sheen. They then visited the PMA proper and were amazed by our collections. We hope that our ties with the family will continue to the mutual benefit of both sides. It was a great privilege and joy to be able to learn about Fr. Iciek, hearing precious memories.
