  2. Create an account with your PESEL number (or passport number)
  3. Select the consulate appropriate for your place of residence (jurisdiction!)
  4. Select the type of matter + book an appointment
  5. Print the confirmation and bring it to your visit

Queues: Passport matters in NYC can have a wait time of 2-4 months. Temporary application = no queue, but only in case of loss/damage.

Practical Tips

  • Prepare all documents in 2 copies – original + copy (if required). The consulate does not make copies.
  • Payment: usually only money order (cashier's check) made out to the consulate – NO cash, NO card. Exception: some consulates in the UK and DE accept cards.
  • Passport photos: must be in biometric format (3.5cm x 4.5cm, light background) – many consulates have a photographer on-site
  • Children: both parents must be present or one with notarized consent from the other
  • Consulate hours on Saturdays: only on exceptional days, check the calendar
